Who Needs a Back?

To add unobtrusive seating to your home or business, backless bar stools are a great option. In smaller areas some types of barstools with backs, for example, can seem overwhelming large and even make the place look cluttered. With the lower profile of back-free counter stools, they make a good choice when space in an area is at a premium.

Consider adding a few select pieces to your patio or sunroom, or even around your swimming pool, so that your guests have somewhere comfortable to sit when you throw barbeque or pool parties.

If you will be using bar stools without backs in your outdoor spaces then you should ensure that you select only ones that can withstand the elements they will be exposed to, especially during the rainy months. Wood, for example, should be sturdy enough to withstand the frequent use they'll be facing, and also have an appropriate weather resistant stain or paint used on them so that wood rot, mold, and mildew do not become a concern for you. Many people find that wrought iron, or woven/rattan are the best option for outdoor spaces due to their durability and ability to withstand inclement weather.

Another consideration about this category is whether or not you are interested in padded seating. If you will be using the stools outdoors then the padded seat should be able to withstand the elements, and also be easy to wipe down if they get splattered with mud or grime. Indoor options can use less rugged fabric but it is often best if the padded seating can be removed or easily cleaned, as they can also be exposed to a world of dirt and grime inside of your home.
